RARE AND ORIGINAL SELF-PORTRAIT SKETCH HAND-DRAWN BY BEATLES VOCALIST AND GUITARIST JOHN LENNON ON THE BACK OF A LETTER FROM HIS SECOND WIFE, YOKO ONO, TO HER DAUGHTER, KYOKO. The letter reads in part: Dear Princess Kyoka, We hear that you are in New York.

You must be glad to see your old room and old toys. We miss you very much. We hope to see you very soon.

We are working on it so you can see us, too - Just like mommy promised you in the car - Remember? Everything will be very nice soon. Love and kisses, from your mommy and. THE SKETCH AND LETTER WERE SENT TO KYOKO SHORTLY AFTER LENNON AND ONO KIDNAPPED HER FROM THE CUSTODIAL FATHER, TONY COX. The letter is two pages on hardstock, measures 8.75 by 4.5, no date but circa May 1971, bearing several affixed stamps from Spain, in near fine condition, and includes a modern print of the Lennon-Ono family.

Accompanied with a letter of provenance from Tony Cox, the ex-husband of Yoko Ono and father of Kyoko, certifying the authenticity of the piece and detailing the Ono and Lennon kidnapping incident of Kyoko that preceded, as well as letters of authenticity from PSA/DNA, JSA, and REAL, the worlds leading authenticators. ACCOMPANIED WITH A LETTER OF PROVENANCE FROM TONY COX CERTIFYING THE AUTHENTICITY OF THE PIECE AND DETAILING THE KIDNAPPING INCIDENT THAT PRECEDED, AS WELL AS LETTERS OF AUTHENTICITY FROM PSA/DNA, JSA, AND REAL, THE WORLDS LEADING AUTHENTICATORS. Ono and Cox were married during the 1960s and Ono gave birth to Kyoko in August 1963. Cox won custody of Kyoko after their divorce was finalized in 1969. In 1971, in fear that Cox was minimizing her time with her daughter, Ono and Lennon temporarily kidnapped Kyoko from Cox in Mallorca, Spain until the authorities forced them to return her.

It was shortly after this incident that Ono and Lennon sent the present sketch and letter to Kyoko. John and Yoko searched for Kyoko for years to no avail; it was not until 1998 that Yoko and Kyoko were reunited.
