NM'MEET THE BEATLES' OPEN END INTERVIEW CAPITOL COMPACT 33 PRO- 2549 WITH SLEEVE.. If you're like me, we'd all love to own this ultra mega rare original, but who has the thousands laying around it would take, to add it to your collection? MEET THE BEATLES' Open End Interview PRO 2549 reissue of 1964 Capitol Compact 33 EP with gorgeous white sleeve To encourage disc jockeys to promote The Beatles, Capitol Records prepared and Open-End interview record that allowed a DJ to give the impression that he was personally conducting an in studio interview with the boys.
The illusion was created by combining a script of statements and questions to ask the group, with a record containing gaps of silence so the DJ could read the script between the pre-recorded responses of the Beatles. Absolute sheer genius by Capitol records!! As part of it's Beatles campaign, Capitol sent copied of the first Beatles interview record to broadcasters in February of 1964, as it was titled' The Beatles Open-End Interview. This is the reissued version.
The original'64 Beatles' open-end interview disc was sent with a black & white picture sleeve. The straight cut side contains the text of the interview printed below the title of the disc. The DJ lines are in bold print and the Beatles responses are in italics. The open tab side of the sleeve has "SIDE TWO" AND "PRO 2549" centered at the top : includes two tracks from their first US Capitol album. The original version was said to be pressed in less then 1000 copies, and if you could find one, it can surely bring a very hefty price!! This is the reissued version of the insanely rare DJ promo that Capitol Records released to hype the Beatles as a Capitol Compact 33 variant.
This is one of the three different versions of these discs. This version is the hardest to find and was pressed on thick black vinyl with a stunning black and silver label. Others were pressed on colored vinyl with poor results. The record appears to have rarely had a needle on it as it is free from any major scratches, and looks to be Near Mint!EX/NM gorgeous stark white sleeve has NO seam splits, NO writing, NO rips/tears and NO prices stickers or glue residue!!
