JOHN LENNON crayon sketches/doodles (3) with letter of provenance THE BEATLES

John Lennon hand drawn sketches. A collection of three crayon sketches by John Lennon, depicting several fictitious characters.

The doodles will look familiar to those who are accustomed with Lennon's artwork, as he authored many similar pieces during his lifetime. The drawings are on irregularly torn pieces of paper, which appear to be from a vinyl sleeve. They are also folded over along some of the edges. The three pieces measure - from their longest points - approximately 6" x 6", 6" x 4.5" and 4" x 4". As stated in the letter of provenance (see details below) the sketches originate from the late 1950's/early 60's. The drawings were acquired from the stepson of a Liverpudlian gentleman who befriended John Lennon during his Quarrymen days.

Their initial conversation was struck up over a UFO magazine John was reading at the Woolton village fete on July 6th 1957. A common interest led to a lasting friendship that continued even after John moved to the US.

John would give his friend sketches and send him magazines in the post covering subjects such as Science Fiction, Aliens and UFO's. Also included is a handwritten letter of provenance from the original recipients stepson explaining the history behind the drawings. A wonderful collection for any Lennon enthusiast.
