Most of the severely damaged 3rd state covers you see on the internet for sale are the improperly peeled LA Jackets. Perhaps not for the super picky collector, but that special someone who wants a real Butcher Cover for a reachable price that still presents well. These Los Angeles covers with the notorious factory super glue have been destroyed by the thousands and continue to be destroyed through amateur peeling attempts.
Due to the difficulty of the peel, these LA Butcher Covers are much harder to come by in displayable condition. This one is better than what is usually seen out there in this price range.Take a close look at the photos and please see below for specific condition description. Front cover is nicely presented due to a decent peeling job. As you can see from the photos, nothing from the peeling process (glue residue, minute pinpoint touch up to tiny abrasions, etc) detracts greatly from the awesome presentation of this jacket. This is unusual from what is generally offered on these specific jackets. Take a look and judge for yourself.
Please see photos to verify specific condition and feel free to contact with questions. Top seam is partially split from the left side to the middle section (see top seam photo). The bottom seam appears to also have split sections/wear to the seam paper of several inches throughout. Seams have been neatly closed in the areas that show cracking. To protect what remains of the seams, a record should never be attempted to be forced into this jacket.
Spine paper/printing was completely wiped out on this one. Again the spine, like the seams, appears to have been neatly mitigated with adhesive so that the condition would stabilize and not spread any further. The back of the jacket shows general moderate wear/foxing/soiling/writing with and a 3 abrasion at top center and (see photo of back of jacket). Comes complete with West Coast mono pressing in Fair visual condition (writing on one side of label) but actually plays much better.
No skips but some occasional noise. This item has been through a laborious process from the 2nd state to what you see here, and as such, the grading is unique on this item. This cannot be graded like a comic book or a baseball card due to the fact that this jacket has twice been altered from its original state, once by the paste over process at the Capitol Factory and likewise by the peeling process.
Any minor imperfections are from either process. The photos speak for themselves and we do our best to accurately grade these historic artifacts. T-Shirt Seen in Background on first few photos is NOT INCLUDED.
