It was the eleventh studio album by The Beatles and the last one recorded as a group, though. Largely assembled from earlier sessions - would be released in 1970 as their final album. The album features some of the Beatles' most beloved compositions, including George Harrison's "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun, " Lennon's "Come Together, " and the legendary medley that dominates Side Two. Debuted at number one in both the UK and the US and has gone on to sell over 30 million copies worldwide.
The cover photograph, showing the four Beatles striding across the zebra crossing in front of EMI's Abbey Road Studios, was conceived by Paul McCartney and executed by photographer Iain Macmillan in a single brief session. A policeman held traffic while Macmillan, standing on a stepladder, captured just six shots. The fifth frame was selected for the cover. No album title or band name appears anywhere on the sleeve - the Beatles were so famous they needed no identification. The front cover of this album bears four bold autographs, each signed by the respective Beatle near or beneath his figure in the iconic crossing photograph.
The signatures are executed in ink and are clearly legible, with each member's distinctive signing style evident. All four autographs have been examined and certified as authentic by Global Forensic Autograph Authentication (GFAA), with the full Letter of Authenticity bearing certification number #24042. Bearing all four Beatles autographs are extraordinarily rare.
After the band's acrimonious breakup in 1970, combined opportunities for all four members to sign a single item were virtually nonexistent. The vast majority of fully signed Beatles items in existence are believed to have been assembled over time by persistent collectors who obtained individual signatures at separate events. The album most synonymous with the Beatles' legacy - represents the pinnacle of Beatles collecting. Died December 8, 1980 (age 40). Died November 29, 2001 (age 58).
With John Lennon and George Harrison no longer living, fully signed Beatles items can never increase in supply - only in value and historical significance. Certificate of Authenticity - GFAA #24042. Collector Value & Investment Significance. Is widely regarded as the single most desirable Beatles album for collectors and investors. Its cover is the most iconic image in rock and roll, reproduced and referenced countless times across every medium. Fully signed Beatles albums have consistently appreciated in value over the decades.
